About the role
We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Social Worker to join our team in Alice Springs. This role will provide critical mental health support and services to our clients in the local community. You will be an integral part of our commitment to improving the wellbeing and empowering the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
What you’ll be doing
- Conducting comprehensive mental health assessments and developing personalised care plans for clients
- Providing individual and group counselling and therapy sessions to support clients’ mental health and psychosocial needs
- Collaborating with other health professionals and community organisations to ensure holistic, wrap-around care
- Advocating for clients’ rights and connecting them with relevant services and resources
- Maintaining detailed case notes and client records in line with professional standards
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of our mental health service delivery
What we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification
- Demonstrated experience in mental health assessment, case management and therapeutic intervention
- Strong understanding of the unique mental health needs and cultural considerations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse clients
- Highly organised with strong time management and documentation skills
- Passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of our clients and the local community
Requirements
- Ability to obtain a satisfactory “Working with Children Clearance” (Ochre Card) upon commencement
- Satisfactory criminal history check and no history of disqualification from employment by a legal practice
- Ability to travel to remote communities to attend bush courts if required.
