PRISON-BASED THROUGHCARE WORKER
This position is based at Darwin Correctional Centre. The successful applicant will provide support to Aboriginal prisoners while they are in custody, particularly in relation to applying for parole. We seek to help our clients make comprehensive post-release plans to give them the best chance of a successful reintegration into the community.
The successful applicant will have an in-depth knowledge of the issues which affect incarcerated Aboriginal people, a demonstrated ability to provide case management and counselling services to incarcerated Aboriginal people and will preferably have a degree in social work or the behavioural sciences.
An essential element of the position is the knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire, a comprehensive knowledge of the criminal justice system including the court process, Corrective Services, and the relevant legislation.
